Speaking of award-winning cheese, how about Pirano?
It's an original creation from the master casari from Barlotti.
Not satisfied with being the only mozzarella producers to receive a gold medal, they decided to get in the mix with the big guns: the aged, hard, complex types of cheese that usually dominate the Best Of lists .
Of course they crushed it: their Pirano was among the last 16 finalists for the title of Best Cheese 2023, and went on to win the Third place overall!
We chose the variant with walnut leaves because, well, it looks beautiful, and smells great. We sell this in wedges of around 300gr, so that you can get a good chunk and keep it for a few weeks - or pound it with your friends in one single glorious aperitivo.
Store it in the fridge, in normal glad wrap - cheese paper would be amazing, if you happen to have it.
The normal cheese disclaimer applies here: Cheese never dies. Don't throw it away, never. This big boy will be good even in a year from now: you will just need to slice off the outer layer.
